Skills measured by CompTIA CTT + certification


CompTIA's CTT + certification (Certified Technical Trainer) recognizes highly qualified trainers. The CTT + certification exam measures the skills and competencies a trainer needs to successfully complete a classroom activity in a classroom or virtual classroom environment. The areas of didactic knowledge covered by the CTT + certificate (a.k.a. "Train the Trainer") include course preparation, presentation, communication, moderation and assessment.

While the second "T" in CTT + stands for "technical" and the technology industry was one of the first to recognize this qualification, CTT + has confirmed the skills and integrity of the best trainers in all sectors, both technical and non-technical. The CTT + certification offers two route options: Classroom Trainer or Virtual Classroom Trainer. Candidates must pass two exams to receive the CTT + certification: the computer-based CTT + Essentials exam and a performance-based test for the class or the virtual class route. The performance-based test tests your hands-on teaching skills, where candidates send a 17 to 22-minute recording while teaching a compressed lesson to real students.

  • Use teaching tools such as graphic displays and handouts to enrich and motivate students.
  • Present and behave in an acceptable manner for corporate customers and students.
  • Understand and use effective verbal and non-verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Use group dynamics and group support to create a student-centered environment.
  • Creation of an environment without partiality and criticism that promotes the participation of all students.
  • Monitor student progress during training and assess performance at the end of the guide.
