CCNA Routing and Switching Overview


Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) routing and switching is an entry-level network technician certification program that helps you maximize your core network investments and enhance your employer's network. CCNA Routing and Switching is aimed at network specialists, network administrators and network support engineers with 1-3 years of experience. CCNA Routing and Switching verifies the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-sized routed and switched networks.

Recertification -

CCNA - cisco routing and switching certifications are valid for three years. To be re-certified, you must meet one of the following requirements before the certification expiration date:

  • Pass an Associate Level exam other than the ICND1 exam or
  • Pass a current 642-XXX professional-level exam or a 300-XXX professional-level exam or
  • Pass a recent Cisco 642-XXX Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist or MeetingPlace Specialist exams, implementation of Cisco TelePresence Installations), Cisco Leading Virtual Classroom Instruction exams, or 650 consecutive exams) or
  • Pass a current CCIE written exam or
  • Pass the current written CCDE exam OR the current practical CCDE exam or
  • Pass the Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr) Interview and CCAr Board Exam to extend lower certifications
